bodyless-soul:

i really hate those posts that say “would you rather have this [food] or this body you’ve wanted for years”

YOU CAN HAVE BOTH ITS CALLED MODERATION

whats the point of eating healthy and working your ass off all day if you’re not going to have a little treat once in a while, its not like one cookie is going to take you all the way back to your HW

Can not consuming enough calories prevent you from losing weight?

Yes, your body needs a certain amount of calories every day and when people restrict way too much, it can cause their body to go into starvation mode.

Why you shouldn’t be jealous of the girl with the amazing metabolism

helpmehealthy:

justonebreathatatime:

curvecreation:

We all know one. That girl whose metabolism is like magic. The girl who looks like a VS model but eats like your brother (well certainly like mine).  We all have that jealous glare as we eat our lunch as we watch. But should we really be jealous?

The answer is no. Why? Because while they can abuse their bodies now, it always catches up with you later.  This is something my first PT told me and something that really stuck. You can’t just abuse your body and get away scott free. It just doesn’t work like that and it really got me thinking.

I’m currently seeing both ends of the spectrum of this in my family. My sister is 14 this year. She’s inherited my mum’s “amazing metabolism”. She eats junk and still remains tiny. When she came and stayed last year for a week, eating what she ate I put on 2kg while still exercising!! Then…I look at my mother who has had an amazing metabolism for most of her life and abused it…she now has diabetes, high cholesterol and the fact she’s older there is less chance she can bounce back as she once would of.  She has to be medicated for the rest of her life for the lifestyle choices she made when she was younger.

So instead of thinking about it that ‘that girl always eats whatever she wants and never gains weight’, shift your thinking to the fact your body has given you a wakeup call NOW so you can improve your quality of life instead of suddenly pouncing on you later in life.

This is absolutely brilliant.

I’m proud to be taking my health seriously as a younger woman. I know that through this journey, I’ll learn what I need to live a healthier and hopefully, longer and happier life.

I lost 15 pounds by just eating clean, whole foods recently. I have a friend who is slightly overweight and i has tried many diets. even nutrisystem didn't work. She came to school with a "detox drink" ( A mix of water, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper) that was suposed to last her the whole day. ( she caved by lunch and bought a coke zero) I told her that if she wants to detox, she needs to eat healthy foods or try green smotthies or something that actually feeds her. How do I say this nicely?

The way you explained it to me though was fine; I really don’t see why she’d take it offensive in any way (unless she’s super sensitive about her weight) but just tell her that if she wants to detox or whatever then she needs to eat healthy foods and drink a lot of water.

Why Losing Weight Won't Change Your Shape (and other FAT facts)

monica-gets-fit:

fitvillains:

Hourglass, pear, apple or square? Whether you’re an extra small or a triple X large, you’re shape is your shape, for better or worse.

That means, if you don’t already have an hourglass like Kim Kardashian, you can’t get one through diet and exercise. It also means that if Kim wanted smaller, more square hips, she wouldn’t be able to have them either. We’re built the way we’re built.

That’s not to say that you can’t improve your shape or change the composition (fat/muscle) of your body. Of course, you can use diet & exercise to make the most out of the body you’ve got. But the hours spent pining over a body type that isn’t yours, is like being upset that you’re not a foot taller. Silly.

Fat accumulates on our bodies differently. Most women tend to ‘stock up’ under the butts & thighs, while men tend to bump out around the middle. Of course, it’s different for every single person and can vary by amount, body location, consistency, distribution and thickness. That’s why some people lose weight faster in certain areas, while other areas tend to lag behind. It’s also why your hips, despite getting smaller won’t actually disappear. This is due to genetics, not failure on your part. Hormones also affect how & where we store fat: something that diet & exercise can’t always control.

So want Angelina Jolie’s waistline? Jessica Biel’s back? Julianne Hough’s thighs? J Lo’s hourglass? You can’t get them. You don’t have their genes.

As much as I love the Fitblr community --

fitfor2012:

uncover-me:

I think people need to remember that exercise addiction is a serious thing and can actually be a form of eating disorder.

It’s okay if you missed your work out tonight.

You need rest days.

And strength training days don’t count as rest!

One bad work out is not going to ruin your progress.

And you need to eat more if you’re going to work out more.

This should be a fun process. Try to remember that.

Exactly.

hii, so i've been eating normal/ maybe a bit more, but not enough to gain weight with it.. but i feel like it's just sitting in my stomach almost (idk if i'm explaining it right) and i'm not getting back to my lower weight. i dont want to eat less tomorrow and throw off my diet. idk what to do..

Well it depends on what you’re eating and if you’re exercising. If alls you’re eating is junkjunkjunk and you’re not doing any kind of physical activity then you most likely will not lose any weight. If you’re not doing these things then that’s what the problem is

I've been working out and eating right since the beginning of the year and lost 10 lbs already. I want to lose another 10 lbs but I seem to be stuck at this weight. What can I do to enhance my progress?

It sounds like you might be stuck at a plateau. Try switching up your routine and adding more weight/reps

I respect vegans and all but they obviously don't respect omnivores if they believe our eating choices determine out maturity . & @ the other anon, i'd like to see him/her tell that to every other omnivore alive .

I respect them too and that was just going way too far… there was no need for that. It’s kind of odd at the fact that us omnivores are immature but I just got a message that was quite immature…

You're just an awful, careless, selfish asshole if you eat meat. Is that better?

No, my eating preferences don’t determine my personality. This was extremely rude though.
